Sports Association

A Hethersett and the Meltons Sports Association has been set up to develop sport in the villages and to get teams together for the village games. There is more information at the Hethersett web site  and on Facebook  and Twitter .

The Village Games will include -  

  • Archery - up to four adults (16+) and two juniors (8-15) - to be chosen at the come and try evening in May  
  • Badminton - Maximum of two teams per village with up to two males and two females in each team aged 11+ - Peter Holt to organise  
  • Short Mat Bowls - Mixed teams of up to three with maximum of two teams 9 years and over - Teams to be organised by Ron (Bowls Club) and Steve (Social Club)  
  • Five-a-side Football - Junior 11 to 14 and senior. Teams of up to 7 - organised by Hethersett Athletic Football Club  
  • Rounders - Mixed team, Minimum of nine players of which 3 must be under-16 - To be chosen at come and try evening in May  
  • Tennis for over 11s. Mixed doubles up to two teams per village - Fiona Whiting organising  
  • Darts singles any age up to four per village - Steve Walker and social club to organise  
  • Watt Bike Challenge - Teams of 3 (1 male, 1 female and 1 under-16) One entry - Mel Perkins from Hethersett Hawks to organise  
  • Table Tennis junior 8-15 and senior 16+ single competitions up to two adults and two juniors per village -
  • Steve Walker and youth club to organise  
  • Netball 11 years and over - Peter Steward to organise  
  • One Mile Race - any number of entries per village - to be organised  
  • 4x100m relay - teams of four open to all ages - to be organised.
