2010 content -

The PC would like to see a high quality, off road cycle route that links Hethersett and Little Melton to the Norwich Research Park (NRP), Hospital and UEA and provides a safe route for children to cycle to schools in Hethersett and Little Melton.

During the Spring of 2010 we have been working to ensure that local schools and businesses include the cycle path in their travel plans.

Messages of support -

  • Daniel Cox, County Councillor for Humbleyard Ward - I am supporting this campaign as I recognise the need to create a safe and direct route for people living in Little Melton and Hethersett to cycle to work at the Norwich Research Park, Hospital, UEA and central Norwich.

  • Richard Bearman, County Councillor for Mancroft - I support a direct, high quality cycle link. Cycling to work is a really good way to travel - it is efficient, reliable and healthy.

  • Joan Hughes, Head Teacher of Little Melton Primary School - Within school we lay great store on keeping our children safe and healthy whilst preparing them for the future, hence cycle training; we would like to know that in their move to Hethersett High School they can use their new skills in as safe an environment as possible.

  • James 'Bert' Bremner ,  Norfolk County Councillor & Norwich City Councillor  University Ward - As a teacher for 37 years I know the value of safe ways for kids to get to school, and this campaign deserves everyone’s support.

  • Great Melton Parish Council - Keep our children safe and healthy.

  • Wymondham Town Council, Lighting and Highways Committee - Encouraging children to cycle to school along a safe route is a high priority.

  • Martin Wynne, South Norfolk Councillor and Chairman of Planning - I am extremely happy to support the principle of a cycle path subject to an appropriate design and route together with adequate funding.

  • Colney Parish Council - Colney PC is a supporter of this campaign and commend your actions.
